Carnival UK’s challenge
Multiple mergers and acquisitions deals had left Carnival juggling siloed SQL Server/SSIS estates for operations, CRM, staffing, and guest systems.
Legacy logic was buried in stored procedures; licence and consultant costs were soaring.
As post-pandemic travel was rebounding fast, Carnival UK’s months-long lead times for data requests, and no holistic customer view, threatened to cap growth.
The solution
Infinite Lambda used its proprietary Flowline accelerator to consolidate disparate platforms into a Snowflake + dbt + Fivetran stack.
The modernisation project consisted of:
- Rapid migration of SQL Server + SSIS pipelines to Snowflake, uncovering hidden business rules;
- Customer 360 data model as the backbone for marketing, operations, HR, and finance self-service;
- Two-person pod deployments inside each business unit to co-build predictive and prescriptive analytics:
- Next-best-action engine driving repeat bookings and targeted discounts;
- Staffing forecaster to match crew levels to sailing demand, slashing overtime and shortages;
- Real-time inventory/pricing model to personalise on-board offers, lifting per-guest revenue.
Embedded DataOps guard-rails (tests, lineage, alerts) for trusted, AI-ready data.
