The challenge
Explosive growth through mergers and acquisitions had left the client struggling with multiple on-prem systems, spiralling licence fees, and a backlog of data requests that would take months.
A consultant-heavy ETL model on Informatica throttled self-service and doubled platform costs year-over-year.
Leadership needed a fast, low-risk overhaul that would not disrupt day-to-day operations across the organisation.
The solution
Infinite Lambda deployed its proprietary migration accelerator Flowline to re-architect the client’s estate on a BigQuery + dbt Cloud foundation.
In just six months, we completed a project that involved:
- Six-week discovery & DataOps design to map legacy landscape and set guardrails;
- Automating 95% of pipeline migration from Informatica and on-prem databases;
- Refactoring the codebase into modular, test-driven models with transparent lineage;
- Upskilling analysts in dbt, enabling instant self-service and faster time-to-insight;
- Embedded governance and alerting to sustain data quality and ensure compliance.
As a result, now client analysts build and deploy their own data products, while data engineers focus on automation and AI enablement.
